Our process
Editorial standards
TaxBowl articles are written to help business owners understand accounting and tax decisions. They provide general information, not advice tailored to your business.
Research and sources
For new and substantially updated articles, we check time-sensitive tax and retirement statements against current primary sources such as the IRS and explain important assumptions. Competitor articles can suggest questions worth answering, but they do not establish the facts of an article.
People and review
TaxBowl Team is the organizational author of team-produced content. Our team includes CPAs and tax advisors, along with professionals with Big 4 accounting experience and a former controller at a billion-dollar hedge fund. We name an individual author or credentialed reviewer only when that person actually contributed or reviewed the article. Specialized plan, tax, and legal decisions require review of a reader’s circumstances by an appropriate professional.
Dates, updates, and corrections
An article’s publication date reflects its published record. We update articles when underlying rules, services, or facts change and show an updated date when a substantive revision has been made. If you find an error, contact our team with the article link and the detail we should review.
Videos and examples
Videos are selected for relevance and checked before embedding. Examples are illustrative unless we clearly identify them as real and have permission to share them. We do not imply that an example predicts a reader’s tax result or plan funding.
